Help on how to view hindi text on the website

If you cann't view the font in hindi, please select your operating soluion on how to solve the problem.

Operating system:

Windows 98/ME
To view the hindi font in Windows 98/ME, please do the following steps:

  1. Download the Raghu font
  2. Unzip the contents into the a temporary directory like "C:\TEMP"
  3. Start Control Panel by clicking Start Menu -> Settings -> Control Panel
  4. Double click on the "Fonts"
  5. On the Fonts pane, click on the "File" menu and select the "Install new font"
  6. When the dialog box opens up, select the drive as "C:", and then select the directory as "TEMP"
  7. Here the "Raghu8" or "Raghu" would displayed as the available font. Select it and click on th Install button.

Windows 2000
To view the hindi font in Windows 2000, please do the following steps

  1. Start control panel by going to Start Menu -> Control Panel
  2. Double click on the "Regional and Language Options"
  3. On the "Languages" tab, check for the language "Indic" and select it
  4. Click OK, and the system will request you for Window 200 installation CD.
  5. After the installation is done, we have to add the keyboard layouts to allow you to enter the Hindi from your keyboard.
  6. Start control panel by going to Start Menu -> Control Panel
  7. Double click on the "Regional and Language Options"
  8. On the "Languages" tab, click on the "Details"
  9. Select "Hindi" as the input langauage and click OK

Additionally you may want to install the Raghu font as listed in the Windows 98/ME installation procedure.

Windows XP and 2003
To view the hindi font in WindowsXP, please do the following steps

  1. Start control panel by going to Start Menu -> Control Panel
  2. Double click on the "Regional and Language Options"
  3. On the "Languages" tab, check the dialog box which says "Install complex scripts (including Thai)"
  4. Click OK, and the system will request you for WindowXP installation CD.
  5. After the installation is done, we have to add the keyboard layouts to allow you to enter the Hindi from your keyboard.
  6. Start control panel by going to Start Menu -> Control Panel
  7. Double click on the "Regional and Language Options"
  8. On the "Languages" tab, click on the "Details"
  9. Select "Hindi" as the input langauage and click OK

Mac OS
For Mac OS 9, Apple supplies Language Kits on the Software Install CD-ROM that allow you to view sites in many languages.

Linux
To view the hindi font, it is advised to visit the CDAC's Indix: Indian Languages in Linux site and follow the listed procedure.
